Course duration: 1 day
The GWO BTT Hydraulic Module course is a thorough technical training that introduces technicians to the world of power hydraulics from the ground up. This training aims to familiarize participants with the design of hydraulic systems, raise awareness of the risks associated with high pressure, and teach the safe diagnosis and execution of basic maintenance work on these powerful systems.
Requirements:
-
valid identity document (ID card/passport/mObywatel)
-
possession of an active WINDA (Wind Industry Database) ID
The course price includes:
-
WINDA system registration fee
-
lunch
-
coffee / tea
-
insurance
-
free parking
Additional fees:
-
none
Certificate validity:
-
indefinite
Course program: The program combines the basics of fluid physics with rigorous industrial safety procedures:
-
Fundamentals of hydraulics – introduction to fluid mechanics. Understanding the relationship between pressure, flow, and force.
-
Hazards and safety – awareness of risks associated with working on high-pressure systems, including the phenomenon of “trapped pressure”. Procedures for safe system depressurization and energy isolation (LOTO).
-
Hydraulic components – design and operating principle of the most important turbine elements: hydraulic pumps, actuators, control valves, filters, and hydraulic accumulators.
-
Hydraulic fluids – properties of hydraulic oils, fluid level checking methods, safe replenishment principles, and hazards associated with the toxicity of industrial chemicals.
-
Hydraulic diagrams – basics of reading, interpreting, and navigating standard hydraulic diagrams used in turbine technical documentation.
What will you learn?
By participating in this technical training, you will acquire hard competencies that allow you to:
-
Recognize key components of the hydraulic system in a wind turbine nacelle and understand their specific purpose.
-
Flawlessly identify hazards before starting any work – including the ability to check whether the system has been properly depressurized.
-
Perform basic maintenance tasks (such as visual inspection of hoses, checking for leaks, or replacing filters) in a highly safe manner.
-
Read simple hydraulic diagrams, which facilitates locating valves and cooperating with experienced technicians during troubleshooting.
What does the training look like?
The training focuses on a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge with very important manual training:
-
Lectures and P&ID analysis: accessible explanation of physical phenomena and joint analysis of diagrams based on real examples from the wind industry.
-
Workshops at hydraulic stations: participants perform a series of exercises on specialized training panels. They independently operate valves, simulate releasing pressure from accumulators, and practically identify individual components of the system.
Confirmation of course completion
Skills assessment is carried out continuously by a GWO instructor while performing practical exercises at the workshop stations, which is supplemented by a short theoretical knowledge test. Successful completion of the module results in the issuance of the GWO BTT Hydraulic Module (BTTH) certificate.
Where does the training take place, and is there parking?
The training takes place in Gdynia at 13A Polska Street. Free parking is located at 6 Chrzanowskiego Street. The barrier code is provided by the secretariat staff upon confirmation of the course.
