Course duration: 1 day
The GWO BTT Electrical Module course is a professional, foundational technical training aimed at future and current wind industry technicians. Its goal is to build a solid foundation in electrical engineering, familiarize the trainee with the turbine’s electrical architecture, and develop ironclad safety habits during measurements and simple maintenance work. Understanding these basics is absolutely crucial before undertaking any authorized work inside the nacelle.
Requirements:
-
valid identity document (ID card/passport/mObywatel)
-
possession of an active WINDA (Wind Industry Database) ID
The course price includes:
-
WINDA system registration fee
-
lunch
-
coffee / tea
-
free parking
Additional fees:
-
none
Certificate validity:
-
indefinite
Course program
The program combines physics knowledge with specific applications in a wind turbine in an accessible way:
-
Fundamentals of electrical engineering – understanding Ohm’s law. Differences between direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC). Explanation of the concepts of voltage, current, and resistance.
-
Electrical hazards and safety – awareness of risks such as electric shock or arc flash. Basics of LOTO (Lock-Out, Tag-Out) energy isolation procedures guaranteeing safe work.
-
Electrical components of a turbine – recognizing and understanding the operation of basic elements: resistors, switches, relays, contactors, transformers, generators, and sensors.
-
Electrical measurements – design, correct calibration, and safe use of digital multimeters and voltage testers.
-
Electrical diagrams – basics of reading and interpreting standard diagrams and technical drawings used in wind turbine documentation.
What will you learn?
By participating in this technical training, you will acquire competencies that allow you to:
-
Fully safely and consciously use a digital multimeter to measure voltage, current, and resistance in turbine circuits.
-
Recognize key electrical components inside control panels and understand their role in the system.
-
Identify potential electrical hazards while performing routine maintenance work inside the tower and nacelle.
-
Logically read simple diagrams, which significantly facilitates cooperation with experienced electricians when diagnosing faults.
What does the training look like?
GWO technical training focuses on a balance between understanding theory and workshop practice:
-
Lectures and diagram analysis: accessible explanation of electrical phenomena using visualizations and group discussions.
-
Workshops on training panels: participants perform exercises on specially prepared electrical boards. Under the supervision of an instructor, they independently connect circuits, identify components, and perform a series of measurements, while learning appropriate safety procedures.
Confirmation of course completion
Knowledge verification takes place through continuous assessment of the trainee’s practical skills during workshop exercises, as well as a short theoretical test. Upon successful completion of the module, the participant receives the GWO BTT Electrical Module (BTTE) certificate.
Where does the training take place, and is there parking?
The training takes place in Gdynia at 13A Polska Street. Free parking is located at 6 Chrzanowskiego Street. The barrier code is provided by the secretariat staff upon confirmation of the course.
