The Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats training prepares participants to act effectively in maritime rescue situations, providing the necessary knowledge and skills in operating fast rescue boats and conducting rescue operations in various weather conditions.

Requirements:

• A valid medical certificate / declaration of good health

• A valid Personal Survival Techniques (PST) certificate

• A valid Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) certificate

• 1 x photo (3.5 x 4.5 cm)

Course program:

• Construction, equipment, and assessment of boat readiness – the scope covers the analysis of hull types, engines (including waterjet propulsion), navigational, rescue, and medical equipment, as well as methods of assessing the boat’s readiness for operation and the principles of its inspection and maintenance.

• Launching, recovering, and righting the boat in emergency situations – the scope covers the construction of launching and release mechanisms, procedures for righting the boat after a capsize, safety measures for the crew, and undertaking basic emergency repairs on the water.

• Boat maneuvering and search patterns – methods of searching for survivors, cooperation with helicopters and the mother ship, and assessing the impact of hydrometeorological conditions on the effectiveness of the operation. Exercises in this module involve practical training in maneuvering the boat in difficult conditions, approaching the side of a ship underway, using a sea anchor, recovering survivors from survival craft and the water, and towing liferafts.

What will you learn on the course?

• Understand the construction, properly maintain, and make basic emergency repairs to fast rescue boats and their equipment.

• Operate dedicated equipment and appliances used for safely launching and recovering fast rescue boats from the water.

• Efficiently command and maneuver a fast rescue boat in various adverse weather conditions, including at high speed and in restricted visibility.

• Recover survivors from the water and survival craft, and cooperate with helicopters and other vessels in search operations.

• Rapidly prepare the rescue boat for immediate use, respond effectively in emergency situations, and apply techniques to right the vessel after a capsize.

What does the training look like?

The teaching method includes knowledge imparted regarding procedures, construction, and search tactics based on convention requirements and IMO Model Course 1.24, combined with physical maneuvering and evacuation training.

Where does the training take place and is there parking?

Theoretical training takes place in Gdynia at 13A Polska Street. Practical training is organized in Gdynia at the Dalmor quay – transport is provided for the trainee by the Maritime School.

Free parking is located at 6 Chrzanowskiego Street. The barrier code is provided when the course is confirmed by the secretariat staff.
