The GWO First Aid training goes beyond standard office courses. It is a highly specialized, intensive life-saving training, adapted to the rigorous realities of working on wind turbines. It teaches the rapid identification of life-threatening injuries, patient stabilization, and rational management of an accident scenario under conditions of high stress, confined space, and a lack of advanced medical equipment.

Course program

The training is based on international resuscitation guidelines and the rescue protocol:

• Incident management – securing the scene, risk assessment for the rescuer, and correct procedures for calling specialist medical assistance.

• C-ABCDE rescue protocol – step by step: stopping life-threatening hemorrhages, opening the airway, assessing breathing, circulation, neurological assessment, as well as thermal comfort and trauma examination.

• Resuscitation and AED – performing effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with particular emphasis on the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

• Injuries and emergencies – recognizing and first aid for fractures, dislocations, severe burns, eye injuries, and shock.

• Chronic and sudden illnesses – responding to hypothermia, epileptic seizure, heart attack, stroke, and anaphylactic shock.

What will you learn?

By participating in this module, you will gain confidence and hard skills that allow you to:

• Quickly and methodically conduct an assessment of the casualty’s condition without panicking.

• Effectively stop massive hemorrhages using tourniquets and hemostatic dressings.

• Maintain the casualty’s vital functions through effective resuscitation and the safe application of an AED defibrillator in a specific industrial environment.

• Apply appropriate rescue positions and protect the casualty from hypothermia until the arrival of professional medical evacuation.

What does the training look like?

The training places a huge emphasis on building muscle memory and stress resistance:

• Theoretical basis: short educational panels discussing anatomy, principles of equipment operation, and rescue theory.

• Practical exercises: participants role-play highly realistic accident scenarios. The exercises are conducted using advanced training manikins, training defibrillators, and industrial first aid kits, which allows for the practice of rescue procedures in conditions similar to real life.

Confirmation of course completion

The training uses a system of continuous assessment. Instructors continuously verify the correctness of the actions performed, team communication, and the ability to cope with stress during scenarios. Upon successful completion of the module, the participant receives the GWO First Aid certificate. The qualifications are immediately registered in the global WINDA database, which serves as a passport to work in the wind sector. The qualifications remain valid for 2 years (after this time, completion of the GWO First Aid Refresher course is required).

Where does the training take place, and is there parking?

The training takes place in Gdynia at 13A Polska Street. Free parking is located at 6 Chrzanowskiego Street. The barrier code is provided by the secretariat staff upon confirmation of the course.
