Complete basic training in a package and pay less!
Course duration: 4 days
The GWO Basic Safety Training (4 modules) package is the so-called “onshore package”. It is an extremely intensive, integrated training covering four fundamental safety modules required of Onshore wind farm workers. It omits the Sea Survival training (required for the Offshore zone), making it an optimal, faster, and cheaper choice for individuals planning a career exclusively on land.
Requirements:
-
valid identity document (ID card/passport/mObywatel)
-
possession of an active WINDA (Wind Industry Database) ID
The course price includes:
-
WINDA system registration fee
-
lunch
-
coffee / tea
-
insurance
-
free parking
Additional fees:
-
none
Certificate validity:

Course program (package contents)
The training schedule has been arranged to smoothly combine and consolidate the four key pillars of safety on a turbine:
-
Module 1 – Working at Heights – principles of inspection and proper use of a full body harness, and safe evacuation of oneself and an injured co-worker on the outside of the tower.
-
Module 2 – Manual Handling – learning biomechanics and techniques for properly lifting, pushing, and carrying heavy maintenance components (e.g., tools, lubricants). Elimination of risks associated with spinal and muscle injuries.
-
Module 3 – Fire Awareness – identification of potential ignition sources in the turbine, techniques for extinguishing small fires in confined spaces, and rigorous procedures for safe evacuation using escape routes.
-
Module 4 – First Aid – performing basic life-saving activities. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), safe use of AED defibrillators (often present on wind farms), and hemorrhage control using standard first aid kits.
What will you learn?
By participating in this package, you will gain hard competencies that allow you to:
-
Physically and mentally prepare to undertake fully safe work on onshore wind installations.
-
Correctly assess risk and react in the early phase of a threat (e.g., the beginning of a fire, a co-worker fainting, faulty fall arrest equipment).
-
Act calmly and composedly in a crisis situation inside the nacelle, where rescue services (ambulance/fire brigade) may only arrive after a long time.
What does the training look like?
The package course places maximum emphasis on developing correct working reflexes:
-
Accessible, unified theory: condensed lectures and discussions, building awareness of the connections between individual hazards on the turbine (e.g., a fire forcing the use of height equipment).
-
4 days at the training facility: participants spend most of their time in work gear. They perform complex maneuvers with ropes, lift heavy boxes according to ergonomic principles, work with real fire and fire extinguishers, and conduct advanced medical simulations using manikins.
Confirmation of course completion
Assessment is carried out continuously by certified instructors of the Maritime School. Each of the four integrated modules requires demonstrating engagement and 100% attention to safety. Upon successful completion of the package, you receive the GWO Basic Safety Training (4 modules – Onshore) certificate. Your newly acquired, international qualifications are instantly registered in the global WINDA database, opening the door to a career as an onshore wind technician. These qualifications remain valid for 24 months (requiring subsequent refreshment through Refresher courses).
Where does the training take place, and is there parking?
Attendance confirmation takes place in Gdynia at 13A Polska Street. Free parking is located at 6 Chrzanowskiego Street. The barrier code is provided by the secretariat staff upon confirmation of the course.
Practical training is organized in Gdynia at the Dalmor quay and a swimming pool – the trainee is provided with transport by the Maritime School.
The training also takes place at 13 Wiśniewskiego Street – where there is also free parking.
