Course duration: 0,5 day
The GWO First Aid Refresher training is not about learning everything from scratch. It is an intensive, condensed course aimed at eliminating routine, updating medical knowledge (e.g., new guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council), and physically re-practicing rescue algorithms. It aims to restore 100% confidence to trainees in providing assistance under conditions of high stress.
Requirements:
-
valid identity document (ID card/passport/mObywatel)
-
possession of a current (still valid) GWO FA certificate (and an active WINDA ID profile)
The course price includes:
-
WINDA system registration fee
-
coffee / tea
-
free parking
Additional fees:
-
none
Certificate validity:
-
2 years
Course program
The training focuses on a quick review of theory and intensive practical training of key protocols:
-
Knowledge update and exchange of experiences – discussing potential changes in rescue guidelines and analyzing real accidents that trainees may have encountered during their last 2 years of work on wind farms.
-
C-ABCDE rescue protocol – an instant reminder and practice of the casualty assessment algorithm: from stopping massive hemorrhages, through opening the airway, to protection against hypothermia.
-
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED – re-training of effective chest compressions and flawless, rapid use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
-
Emergencies and injuries – consolidation of procedures for managing fractures, burns, shock (including anaphylactic), hypothermia, and sudden illnesses (e.g., heart attack, epilepsy).
What will you learn and remember?
By participating in this refresher module, you will eliminate any bad habits and restore your ability to:
-
Instantly, instinctively, and methodically conduct an assessment of the casualty’s condition in the confined space of a turbine.
-
Effectively stop life-threatening hemorrhages using tactical tourniquets and dressings available in industrial first aid kits.
-
Initiate immediate resuscitation and use a defibrillator without losing precious seconds trying to remember the equipment’s operating instructions.
-
Efficiently manage a medical incident and pass precise information to emergency services.
What does the training look like?
The refresher course is characterized by significantly greater dynamics than the basic training:
-
Less theory, more action – after a short introduction reminding the principles, participants smoothly transition to practical classes.
-
Intensive simulations – a significant part of this one-day course is solving arranged accident scenarios. Participants play the roles of rescuers, working on advanced training manikins and equipment, which allows for rebuilding appropriate muscle memory and stress resistance.
Confirmation of course completion
Passing the module is based on continuous assessment. Certified instructors closely observe the correctness of performing medical algorithms, decision-making, and the ability to work in a team during simulations. Upon successful completion of the exercises, the graduate receives a renewed GWO First Aid Refresher certificate. The qualifications are immediately registered in the global WINDA database, which legalizes and extends the possibility of working in the wind energy sector for another 24 months.
Where does the training take place, and is there parking?
The training takes place in Gdynia at 13A Polska Street. Free parking is located at 6 Chrzanowskiego Street. The barrier code is provided by the secretariat staff upon confirmation of the course.
