Training objective:

The objective of the course is to supplement and update participants’ knowledge and skills in the area of Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (Bezpieczeństwo Własne i Odpowiedzialność Wspólna – BWIOW), in accordance with the amended STCW requirements (Table A-VI/1-4 as amended by Resolution MSC.560(108)). The training is intended to prepare seafarers to effectively prevent violence and harassment on board and to respond appropriately to cases of harassment (including sexual harassment), bullying and intimidation, and sexual assault.

Upon completion of the refresher training, the School issues individual certificates of completion to seafarers.

A certificate of completion of the refresher training issued by MJE, together with the existing certificate of training in Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (this also applies to the Basic Safety Training certificate) issued before 1 January 2026, confirms that the holder has completed training in Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities in accordance with Resolution MSC.560(108).

All existing certificates in Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (this also applies to Basic Safety Training certificates) issued before 1 January 2026 remain valid until they are replaced with new ones or revalidated. Seafarers will have 5 years to exchange their existing Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities certificates for new ones (this does not apply to Basic Safety Training certificates, which will be revalidated upon expiry of their validity period or, at the seafarer’s request, exchanged for new ones).
