Course duration: 2 days
The GWO Enhanced First Aid Refresher is a refresher course designed to eliminate routine and intensively re-train advanced life-saving procedures. The training places a huge emphasis on prolonged patient care, proficient use of advanced rescue equipment, and efficient communication and coordination through modern telemedicine systems. This is the key to providing immediate and effective assistance in emergencies.
Requirements:
-
valid identity document (ID card/passport/mObywatel)
-
possession of a current (still valid) GWO EFA certificate and an active WINDA ID profile
The course price includes:
-
WINDA system registration fee
-
coffee / tea
-
free parking
Additional fees:
-
none
Certificate validity:
-
2 years
Course program: The training is condensed, highly practical, and based on refreshing complex medical algorithms:
-
Telemedicine and Remote Management – consolidation of procedures for preparing precise patient status reports for medical coordinators and communication with a remote doctor who supports the operation on the turbine until the helicopter arrives.
-
Advanced rescue equipment – reminder of the operating principles and flawless use of equipment from the enlarged medical bag, including: oxygen therapy (medical oxygen cylinders), oropharyngeal airways, cervical collars, and specialized stretchers.
-
Extended hemorrhage control techniques and trauma care – advanced control of massive bleeding using tactical tourniquets and hemostatic dressings, as well as management of severe fractures.
-
Prolonged care – monitoring the patient’s vital signs, preventing the worsening of shock, and protecting against hypothermia through many hours of waiting in the cold turbine environment.
-
Emergencies and CPR with AED – reminder of management algorithms for anaphylactic shock, heart attacks, or strokes, and intensive defibrillation training using an AED.
What will you learn and remember?
By participating in this module, participants will regain 100% confidence and remember how to:
-
Calmly and methodically take on the role of a medical operation leader at the scene in a wind turbine environment.
-
Effectively maintain the vital functions and comfort of a severely injured co-worker using the available equipment from the advanced EFA package.
-
Professionally communicate with rescue services and a doctor via telemedicine, acting as the doctor’s “eyes and ears” at heights.
What does the training look like?
Similar to the basic training, the Refresher is characterized by a huge emphasis on practice:
-
Theoretical part: rapid exchange of experiences from the trainees’ last 2 years of work, review of updates in resuscitation guidelines, and discussion of new cases (case studies) from the wind industry.
-
Extensive simulations: the vast majority of the course consists of rescue simulations. Trainees take turns leading the operation, working on advanced training manikins or “injured” role-players.
Confirmation of course completion
Passing is based on continuous assessment. Rescue instructors evaluate the correct execution of medical algorithms, injury prioritization, group leadership, and stress resistance during scenarios. Successful completion of the module results in the issuance of a renewed GWO Enhanced First Aid Refresher certificate. It is promptly entered into the WINDA database, which extends the qualifications and the validity of the EFA rescuer status in the wind industry for another 24 months.
Where does the training take place, and is there parking?
The training takes place in Gdynia at 13A Polska Street. Free parking is located at 6 Chrzanowskiego Street. The barrier code is provided by the secretariat staff upon confirmation of the course.
