Course duration: 3 days
The GWO Enhanced First Aid course is an intensive, 3-day specialized training. It prepares technicians to perform the key role of a Lead Rescuer on a turbine. The training teaches not only how to maintain the patient’s vital functions but also how to safely provide them with prolonged care while waiting for evacuation. Trainees learn to use advanced medical equipment and conduct effective, structured telemedicine communication with a doctor on land. This is an invaluable training wherever isolation and time decide life and death.
Requirements:
-
valid identity document (ID card/passport/mObywatel)
-
possession of an active WINDA (Wind Industry Database) ID
The course price includes:
-
WINDA system registration fee
-
lunch
-
coffee / tea
-
free parking
Additional fees:
-
none
Certificate validity:
-
2 years
Course program
The program is highly specialized and based on extensive pre-hospital rescue medical algorithms:
-
Telemedicine and communication procedures – correctly conducting a medical interview, transmitting precise patient vital signs, and cooperating with a consulting doctor via radio or satellite phone.
-
Advanced rescue equipment – design and safe use of oxygen kits, oropharyngeal airways supporting breathing, and advanced immobilization splints and collars.
-
Hemorrhage control and injuries – application of tactical tourniquets and hemostatic dressings for massive bleeding. Managing complex fractures and extensive chemical and thermal burns.
-
Prolonged care and stabilization – techniques for protecting the casualty from hypothermia in the conditions of a steel wind tower. Preventing shock and monitoring parameters (pulse, breathing, saturation).
-
Emergencies, CPR, and AED – review and expansion of knowledge in the field of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the safe use of AED defibrillators.
What will you learn?
By participating in this intensive training, you will acquire competencies that allow you to:
-
Confidently and calmly take on the role of a rescue team leader during a serious accident on a wind farm.
-
Act effectively using an advanced medical bag, performing procedures that on land belong to ambulance crews.
-
Keep the casualty alive and in the maximum possible comfort for many hours while waiting for rescue, without panicking.
-
Create a fully professional “information bridge” between the accident scene and the medical dispatcher.
What does the training look like?
The course is characterized by a gigantic emphasis on realism and building stress resistance:
-
Introductory theory: understanding the basics of anatomy, the pathophysiology of injuries, and the principles of operating advanced oxygen equipment.
-
Realistic simulations: the vast majority of these 3 days consist of role-playing scenarios. Participants, using telecommunication equipment and advanced training manikins, solve complex medical problems under time pressure and in confined spaces.
Confirmation of course completion:
The training ends with a rigorous assessment based on a continuous assessment system. Instructors closely verify both manual skills and leadership abilities. Successful completion results in obtaining the prestigious GWO Enhanced First Aid (EFA) certificate, which is promptly registered in the WINDA database. These qualifications constitute proof of the highest medical qualifications in the offshore and onshore industry. The certificate remains valid for 2 years (after this time, completion of a refresher course – EFA Refresher – is required).
