The Refresher Training in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting serves to refresh and consolidate key skills in fire prevention and firefighting on board a ship. The training has a blended format: short lectures to refresh knowledge and intensive practical exercises, through which participants perfect the correct actions in conditions close to reality.

General knowledge and prevention (theory) – the scope includes a refresher of the most important information about fire protection on seagoing ships. Safety rules, causes of fires, and guidelines for their prevention and firefighting are discussed.

Fire fighting and evacuation (practical exercises) – intensive training at the fire fighting training ground. Participants perform physical exercises involving extinguishing fires using various fire extinguishers (dry powder, foam, CO₂) as well as water and foam hoses. The module also covers the correct use of breathing apparatus and Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBD), and practicing elements of a rescue operation.

What does the training look like?
The refresher training is highly condensed – it lasts 1 day and includes lectures refreshing theoretical knowledge and intensive practical training at the fire fighting training ground. Participants are required to provide themselves with working clothes (coveralls, gloves, footwear) for the duration of the exercises. Course completion includes a summarizing knowledge test (from the lecture part) and a physical demonstration of refreshed rescue and firefighting skills at the training ground (exercises).
Where does the training take place and is there parking?
The training takes place in Gdynia at 13A Polska Street. Free parking is located at 6 Chrzanowskiego Street. The barrier code is provided when the course is confirmed by the secretariat staff.
