Course duration: 1 day

Training in Crowd Management is intended for crew members of seagoing ships (including passenger and ro-ro vessels) who are entrusted with the duty to assist passengers in emergency situations. During the training, you will learn how to effectively and safely guide passengers on their way to muster and evacuation stations, issue clear orders to prevent outbreaks of panic, and proficiently apply emergency procedures and instructions.

Course program:

• Safety measures and emergency instructions – the scope covers familiarization with the ship’s emergency procedures and instructions, the location and use of escape routes/emergency exits, and the rules and restrictions on the use of ship’s elevators.

• Assisting passengers en route to muster and embarkation stations – the scope includes techniques for issuing clear and reassuring orders, maintaining control over passengers in corridors and on stairways, methods for keeping escape routes clear, as well as specific methods for evacuating disabled persons and searching accommodation spaces.

• Emergency procedures and crowd control – the scope includes methods for maintaining order, procedures to reduce and avoid collective panic, principles of passenger mustering (e.g., using passenger lists), and verifying that they are suitably clothed and have donned their lifejackets correctly.

The course program complies with:

• The STCW 78 Convention, as amended

• Section A-V/2 of the STCW Code (paragraph 1) and Table A-V/2-1

• IMO Model Course 1.28

• Proficiently know and apply in practice the life-saving appliances and control plans implemented on passenger ships.

• Issue clear, precise, and reassuring orders while moving through narrow corridors and stairways.

• Quickly and correctly muster passengers regarding their preparation to abandon ship (including checking for suitable clothing and correctly donned lifejackets).

What does the training look like?

The teaching method includes lectures on procedures and instructions based on IMO Model Course 1.28, combined with practical training in crowd management and the implementation of emergency procedures.

Where does the training take place and is there parking?

The training takes place in Gdynia at 13A Polska Street. Free parking is located at 6 Chrzanowskiego Street. The barrier code is provided when the course is confirmed by the secretariat staff.
