Course duration: 3 days

The GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (4 modules) package is the so-called “onshore refresher package”. It is an intensive, integrated training created for technicians working exclusively in the Onshore environment (it omits the Sea Survival module). This course allows for the simultaneous renewal of all four key safety qualifications in a condensed time, verifying the correctness of habits and updating knowledge with the latest industry standards.

Requirements:

  • valid identity document (ID card/passport/mObywatel)

  • possession of an active WINDA (Wind Industry Database) ID

  • possession of a current (still valid) GWO Working at Heights, GWO Manual Handling, GWO Fire Awareness, and GWO First Aid certificate

  • T-shirt, swimming trunks, shower accessories, a change of clothes + work clothing

The course price includes:

  • WINDA system registration fee

  • lunch

  • coffee / tea

  • insurance

  • free parking

Additional fees:

  • none

Certificate validity:

  • 2 years

Course program (package contents):

The schedule focuses on a quick update of procedures and intensive physical training:

  • Module 1 – Working at Heights Refresher – re-verification of skills in the selection and inspection of harnesses, attaching to Fall Arrest systems, and efficient evacuation of oneself and a casualty (Rescue) on the outside and inside of the tower.

  • Module 2 – Manual Handling Refresher – a quick reminder of biomechanics and practical exercises in optimal load lifting, aimed at eliminating habitual errors leading to spinal injuries.

  • Module 3 – Fire Awareness Refresher – updating knowledge about fire hazards in the nacelle, consolidating evacuation procedures, and re-practicing fire extinguisher techniques in smoke-filled confined spaces.

  • Module 4 – First Aid Refresher – a review of key life-saving procedures (CPR, controlling massive hemorrhages, securing the airway) and the use of an AED defibrillator in the specific environment of a turbine.

What will you learn and remember?

By participating in this package, you will maintain the highest degree of professional readiness:

  • You will eliminate dangerous daily working routine and update your knowledge with the latest GWO safety guidelines.

  • In controlled conditions, you will re-test your reactions to crisis situations under time pressure (fire, co-worker’s accident on a ladder).

  • You will regain 100% confidence in the operation of rescue and fall arrest equipment, which (fortunately) is rarely used on a daily basis.

What does the training look like?

The Refresher training is highly practical and based on scenarios:

  • Theoretical basis and exchange of experiences: discussing real industry incidents and a quick reminder of procedures.

  • Training facility and simulations: trainees spend most of their time in the training halls. Working in gear, they perform complex practical exercises under the supervision of an instructor. Simulations often combine knowledge from several modules at once (e.g., an accident during the transport of a heavy component combined with the need for rope evacuation).

Confirmation of course completion

Passing the package is based on continuous assessment. GWO instructors closely observe your technique, care for your own and the team’s safety, and proactive approach to the tasks performed. Upon successful completion of the classes, you receive the GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (4 modules – Onshore) certificate. The updated qualifications are immediately entered into the global WINDA database, which officially extends your onshore qualifications for another 2 years (24 months).

Where does the training take place, and is there parking?
