Course Description
The course “Boat Transfer with Basic Sea Survival Skills – Treading Water” is a practical training organized by the Maritime School in Gdynia.
The aim of the course is to prepare participants for safe transfer from a vessel (boat, support vessel) and to acquire basic sea survival skills in case of emergency (treading water method).
The course includes theoretical and practical elements in an aquatic environment, adapted to the specifics of offshore / marine work.
After the course you will be able to:
- Perform a transfer from a boat or vessel to an installation or construction site at sea, in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Maintain yourself in the water (“treading water”) for a specified period of time using a life preserver (e.g., a belaying vest) and move correctly in sea conditions.
- Recognize the hazards that accompany transfer operations at sea – such as vessel movement, waves, weather variability – and respond appropriately.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and belay devices during transfer operations and in sea survival situations.
- Cooperate as a team during transfer operations and emergency situations at sea – communicate effectively and follow rescue procedures.
