CTV ( CREW TRANSFER VESSEL ) NAVIGATION

& SHIPHANDLING TRAINING WITH USE OF FULL MISSION

                  KONGSBERG K-SIM NAVIGATION BRIDGE SIMULATOR

LECTURES :

  1. Voyage planning – Wind Turbine Towers within the Marine Wind -farm area.
  2. Use of ECDIS , AIS, RADAR /ARPA.
  3. Manoeuvring principles of fast craft, catamaran type with twin screw propulsion and bow thrusters.
  4. Manoeuvring Booklet – familiarization.
  5. Course and speed selection depending of wind force, direction and wave height.
  6. Mooring / unmooring to /from the berth.
  7. Approach to SOV ( Service Operations Vessel ).
  8. Approach and berthing to monopile wind tower with bow Ahead.
  9. MOB ( Man over- board) manoeuvres.
  10. Emergency conditions – failures of: engine, communication, steering  ( rudders), navigational / positioning systems.
  11. Possibility of monopile wind tower approach with stern Ahead, ship design limitations, weather limitations, risk assessment and potential dangers.
  12. Sea passage with restricted visibility ( fog, rain, snow etc ).
  13. Passenger’s safety briefing

SHIPHANDLING SIMULATOR EXERCISES :

Each exercise with use of simulator consists of three pars : Briefing, Practical Exercise, Debriefing

  1. Manoeuvring trials, familiarization with CTV manoeuvring characteristics ( Manoeuvring Boolet as reference )
  2. Mooring and unmooring form the Service Base’  berth
  3. Sea passage to Marine Windfarm ,  according to passage plan
  4. Approach to Wind Turbine Towerwith bow Ahead ( bow fender touch the tower transfer area) in various weather conditions: restricted visibility, wind and wave effects, use of main propulsion and bow thrusters, position maintenance to ensure safe service personel transfer to/from  the monopile tower
  5. Wind Turbine Tower’s nearby manoeuvres in case of propulsion failure – use of one propeller and bow thrusters – approach with bow Ahead to the Wind Tower and maintain fix position
  6. Approach with bow Ahead to the Wind Turbine Tower with use of main propulsion maintain fixed transfer position – the breakdown of bow thrusters was found
  7. Approach alongside  to Service Operations Vessel – to port or starboard side depend of weather conditions.
  8. MOB ( Man Overboard ) manoeuvre nearby of Wind Turbine Tower – approaching and casualty’s recovery from water.
  9. Trial of Wind Turbine Tower approach with stern Ahead – determination of safe approach possibilities ( weather limitation ) , take under consideration risk of CTV damage – rudders, propellers   ( designed originally to approach with bow Ahead well protected by specially designed fender )
