Training according to GWO standards
11 December 2017New certification of GWO modules
08 February 2020As previously communicated, the Basic Technical Training standard enters into effect on March 31, 2018 and replaces many of the GWO members’ own training courses either fully or partially.
Basic Technical Training is an entry level safety training, that enables Delegates to perform basic hydraulic, mechanical and electrical tasks in a wind turbine environment under the supervision of an experienced technician.
All of the GWO members have committed to use the GWO standards for their technicians where appropriate and GWO therefore expects to see an increase in Delegates attending training in BTT training courses following the March 31 deadline.
As for those technicians that are already experienced in the wind industry and have similar previous training, they can make use of the merit process. The merit process must also be completed by March 31 if companies expect their technicians to be recognized for work among the members after March 31, 2018.
The merit process is freely available on our website and we strongly encourage all companies that have technicians that are affected by the change to the BTT standard to apply for and complete the merit process prior to March 31.
