Course description:
The GWO: Basic Technical Training (BTT) is a comprehensive four-day course designed for individuals new to the wind energy industry or those seeking to enhance their technical expertise. The course offers a thorough exploration of the mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems integral to wind turbines.
Electrical Module: This segment of the training emphasizes the hazards associated with electrical work. Participants will learn basic electrical concepts, understand the significance and functions of symbols for electrical components, and the roles of various sensor types. The module equips technicians with skills to interpret simple electrical diagrams, construct circuits, and conduct safe and accurate electrical measurements.
Hydraulics Module: Trainees will be introduced to the fundamentals of hydraulics, including the associated dangers and risks. The module covers the functions of different pump types, techniques for checking pump pressures, and understanding the roles of cylinders, valves, sensors, and accumulators, including their precharging methods. Participants will develop practical skills in identifying hydraulic components, managing oil operations, interpreting hydraulic diagrams, and measuring hydraulic pressure accurately.
Mechanical Module: This part of the course delves into the main components of mechanical systems and basic operations of wind turbines, including braking systems, cooling, lubrication, and the yaw system. Technicians will acquire skills in using hand tightening and measuring tools, as well as the correct application of hydraulic torque and tensioning tools. The module also focuses on identifying mechanical risks and hazards, and includes training in using various hand and hydraulic tools, and understanding gearboxes, braking, yaw, cooling, and lubrication systems.
Upon completion, the course culminates in a theory test, and successful participants receive the GWO BTT certificate. This certification is often a prerequisite for employment in the wind energy industry, both onshore and offshore, making it a valuable asset for career advancement.
The BTT certificate has no expiry and does not require renewal.
