Course Objective:
This course is dedicated for personnel without STCW Marine Master Endorsement who wish to obtain OIM Endorsement for Non-Self-Propelled MOU from Flag Administration i.e. The Republic of Liberia
Delivery: 80% classroom and 20% simulator
Course contents
The purpose of this course is to familiarize with knowledge , skill and competency of OIM on MOU’s.
Theory in classroom :
Plan and ensure safe ballasting and deballasting operations and accounting of changes in deck loads.
Operational control of trim, stability and stress
Maintain safety and security of MOU personnel and the operational condition of life-saving, firefighting and other safety systems
Develop emergency and damage control plans
Forecast weather and oceanographic conditions
Plan and ensure safe transfer of personnel
General understanding of change of trim, trimming moments, longitudinal metacentre and longitudinal stability
Plan and ensure safe loading, stowage, securing and handling of supplies, including dangerous goods
Prevention of pollution
Monitor and control safe working practices
Monitor and control compliance with legislative requirements and measures to ensure safety of life at sea and the protection of the marine environment
Monitor and control industrial operations impacting maritime safety
Practice on Simulators:
Handling emergency situations: fire, flooding loss of stability
Maintain MOU safe for transit, station keeping, mooring , towing
